Everything on Earth Would Keep Moving

Earth Would No Longer Have Its Current Shape

Gravity would still exist.

Stopping Earth's rotation would not make people float away from the planet.

Would Humans Survive?

If Earth somehow stopped instantly, survival would be extremely difficult.

The immediate winds, moving oceans and enormous environmental changes would cause global devastation.

However, if Earth gradually slowed down over an extremely long period, the consequences would be very different. Life would have more time to adapt to changes in climate, day length and ocean distribution.

Earth Is More Dynamic Than It Looks
